In an era of renewed opposition to LGBTQ+ identity, it feels, more than ever, important for queer film festivals and similarly organized events to take place. Our history of battling marginalization, the struggles of the past and the need to relive it all over again are upon us once more. Being silent, absent and invisible is one way to exist in a xenophobic reality, much like ghosts, or spectral beings. Spectral was about presence – occupying, haunting and moving in and out of public space as another form of existence that we have learned to do.
