Zachery Longboy
Zachery Cameron Longboy is a Sayisi Dene, video/performance and visual artist presently living in Vancouver BC. Originally from Churchill Manitoba, Longboy is recognized for his hybrid investigations of gender and first nations identity. Longboy's video work is part of the collections of: the National Gallery of Canada, Glenbow Museum, the Canada Council Art Bank, with numerous screenings including the Vancouver Art Gallery, Museum of Modern Art, Images Festival, and Out On Screen.

From Another Time Comes One
(1990, 10 min.)
Dedicated to the artistâs father, this experimental tape begins sorting through identities contaminated by the generalized racism of white society and its degrading commercial exploitation of Native culture, i.e., ÎIndianâ drums and doll souvenirs. Five young natives search for reconnection to their families, their stories, traditions and their role within community.

Water Into Fire
(1994, 11 min.)
Longboy outs himself as a First Nations FAG ö who is living with HIV ö hoping to sever attached preconception of two spirited peoples. In a contemplative search, the artist recollects how HIV/AIDS has affected him and his surrounding community, revealing a strength through loss.

confirmation of my sins
(1995, 12 min.)
ãThere are many memories of childhood that have slipped through the cracks. Most that I can recollect were of the differences in myself in comparison to the others around. Taken away at one week of age from my Indian community and given to a white foster family, my experience of the authentic Indian and where my placement is, within this dream of authenticity, comes from an infected locale. I have become a chameleon, taking on roles, behaviors and attributes to hide and maneuver within specific venues.ä

Thirza Cuthand
Thirza Cuthand was born and raised in Saskatchewan then ran away to Vancouver to go to film school. Her work has been screened in festivals such as Sao Paolo, MIX NYC, and the prestigious Oberhausen Short Film Festival, where she won Honorable Mention in the International Competition. She is the recipient of many other awards, including the New Mic Award for Digital Arts at Emily Carr for her grad film Anhedonia. She used her award money to buy whips in San Francisco. She has curated for Video Out and ImageNation in Vancouver. After a brief relocation to Montreal, Thirza has returned to Vancouver and is working on her next video.

Lessons in Baby Dyke Theory
(1995, 3 min.)
A baby dykeâs hilarious theoretical search for her contemporaries. Cuthand made this video because she was a baby dyke who wanted to know where the hell everyone was. In making this video, she hoped to strike a chord in other young lesbians and make the older lesbian community examine its ageism.

Colonization: The Second Coming
(1996, 3.5 min.)
Aliens have landed. Colonization? Again?! A first nations baby dyke throws away her vibrator.

Working Baby Dyke Theory:
The Diasporic Impact of Cross Generational Barriers
(1997, 5 min.)
This playful and insightful work explores a baby dykeâs initiation into her culture and the problems she encounters with women older than herself. Shot in a studio making use of the simplest of props and devices to the best effect, Cuthand has once again created a work which speaks through personal experience to address and critique contemporary dyke culture.

Untouchable
(1998, 4.25 min.)
A girl with a bad habit of falling for older women befriends a boy lover. This video is an examination of relationships between adults and teenagers. It involves ice cream trucks and bowie knives.

Manipulation/Dictation
(1999, 4 min.)
This video was originally constructed using a Super 8 camera and a walkman. Manipulation/Dictation investigates processes of lesbian seduction, betrayal and the expectation that we can still be friends later.

Helpless Maiden Makes an ãIä Statement
(1999, 6 min.)
By using clips of evil queens/witches this video plays off the sadomasochistic lesbo erotic subtexts commonly found in children's entertainment. A helpless maiden is tiring of her consensual s/m relationship with her lover, an Îevilâ queen. She wants to break up. An impassioned monologue in a dungeon with our heroine in wrist cuffs as she initiates what quickly becomes an emotionally messy ending in flames. This video was inspired by the artists own childhood Îkiddy porn,â Disney movies which turned her on to no end and kicked off many a prepubescent masturbation session.

Anhedonia
(2001, 9 min.)
A personal work about an individualâs struggle with depression and the effect it has on her life.
