UNTITLED (SLICK GLITTERY) //
KIRA O'REILLY - LONDON, UK

For each performance I attempt, to some extent, a losing and re-finding of a body and of bodies. Each performance has some dimension of exploration of physicality, materiality and immateriality in tandem with you, the viewer, the witness, the other one.

I am 46, my body is changing, transforming into I do not know what.

This work allows mystery and provocative ponderance upon my unwieldy transformations, attempting to wear slick, glittery bodies, attempting to become slick, glittery bodies, and attempting to move as slick, glittery bodies. It’s a slow and unwieldy dance, for you, the other ones.

Kira O’Reilly is a UK based artist; her practice is both wilfully interdisciplinary and entirely undisciplined and stems from a visual art background; it employs performance, biotechnical practices, photography and writing with which to consider speculative reconfigurations around The Body. Since graduating in 1998 her work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, China and Mexico. She has presented at conferences and symposia on performance. visual art and science and art and technology interfaces. She is currently very interested in working with martial arts and yogas played out with, through, and of a body aging, changing, and transforming into something that she doesn’t know what it is.

THE SHELL //
MADELEINE BOTET DE LACAZE – ARGENTINA/LONDON

15 MINUTE PERFORMANCE REPEATED THROUGHOUT THE EVENING – PLEASE SIGN UP AT VENUE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS

The image of my naked body is projected on top of my naked body, both creating a specific action, both in different states of mind, both in constant dialogue, both looking to free themselves.

The Shell is about transformation through sharing and connecting. It’s meant to be raw and subtle; intense and beautiful. I want to shake people by shaking myself. I believe the body is the most nostalgic element, the most vivid, vital, dynamic, powerful and beautiful, one where the past, present and future coexist, where life and death make synthesis, where I can find my fears and hopes, my memories and most important my strength, drive and spirit.

Madeleine is an Argentinean artist based in London. Her background was in film and photography until she came to London to do a Masters in performance art. Her work focused in the idea of presence and non-presence, the ephemeral presence and the corporal presence. And how the tension between these two - the effect of looking at the body from the ephemerality of technology - is changing our perception of corporality, of our body. The Shell was part of the SPILL National Platform 2012 and SPILL Showcase 2013 in London. www.madeleinebotetdelacaze.co.uk

WIND IN //
ARIANNA FERRARI – MILAN, ITALY

The performer lies on the floor. The pipe of an air compressor is tightly fixed to the performer's open mouth. Inside the mouth are placed two small microphones. The air compressor starts to function. Air is led into the performer's mouth and body. The microphones amplify the sounds produced. Attached together human and machine become one (sounding) entity, a simple mechanical wind instrument.

Investigation into the relations of interdependence between humans and machines, the performance aims to allegorically represent how currently, humans are an indistinguishable element of one single uniforming system that has absorbed in it object/machine and subject/human, with no way to escape for the latter.

Arianna Ferrari works in Live Art. Her performances explore the relations between humans and machines, the obsolescence of human body and liminality. Her work has been presented internationally, most recently at Defibrillator Gallery in Chicago and at the Brooklyn International Performance Art Festival in New York. Ferrari studied Contemporary Music and Sound Arts in Brescia, Berlin and London.
